Children, they say are the leaders of tomorrow, but in the century we are today, a bright future of some children is not guaranteed.
Several barbaric acts such as female genital mutilation, rape, child marriage, sexual molestation have been the order of the day, in modern societies.
It is difficult to pin point why these heinous acts are still rampant especially among the female children.
Female Genital Mutilation is a partial or total removal of the external female genitalia in the female genital organs for non medical reasons, Which leads to injury, infections, infertility, and sometimes pains during sexual intercourse.
Studies have shown that over 200million girls and women in countries in Africa have gone through genital mutilation.
This is mostly carried out on young girls between infancy and age 15. This act is done ignorantly among the illiterates, partially educated and even well educated ones, based on their cultures.
It is high time mothers stood for what is right and refuse to be subjected to this barbaric act for others to follow suits. Also, the government should set up an advocacy on this.
